  MiLEAD is a non-profit group dedicated to training students on navigating the business landscape, helping provide career support and tools to navigate non-academic roles. With MiSciComm, we are trying to highlight skills and share resources on how to best communicate our science to non-academic partners and provide career development opportunities for both sets of members.

  The UM Chemistry Department supports science communication efforts through hosting speakers and having their in-house science communication program. 
• MiSciComm x RNA SymposiumLive BloggingWritingOnce a year
  Every fall, the annual RNA symposium takes place, where students and faculty gather to discuss groundbreaking research in RNA science. As MiSciComm, we have provided live blogging for the main speaker sessions, both as posts on our blog and live blogging on Twitter/X.   Arbor Assays is a local biotechnology company that provides kits for scientific research. In addition to their products, Arbor Assays highlights publications that have used their kits in the form of blog posts. To provide industry experience for MiSciComm writers, we select a cohort of students to write with Arbor Assays, providing a unique experience from our typical in house editing process. ComSciCon-MI

• MiSciComm x ComSciCon-MIConferenceWritingOnce a year
  ComSciCon-MI is a chapter of the national 501(c)3 ComSciCon, establishing by students in the New England Area to provide science communication resources and networking opportunities to graduate students and postdocs. The Michigan chapter of this conference is organized along with students at other universities across Michigan (MSU, Wayne State, GVSU, MTI, etc.) hosted either at UM or at MSU. With this partnership, we provide a two-day workshop, where students gain new insights into careers in science communication, and get expert feedback on written pieces for the purpose of this workshop.
